Mildred E. Swick, 95, of Tempe, AZ, formerly of Fairmount, passed away Tuesday in Chandler, AZ. Born in Auburn, she lived on Owasco Lake until moving to Fairmount in 1957. Millie moved to Tempe in 2001. She was a graduate of Holy Family Catholic School in Auburn. Millie was employed at the NYS Unemployment Office, the Addis Co., and Syracuse University. She was a member of the Camillus Country Club, Holy Family Church and its Novena Group, North Tempe Neighborhood Association, and the Arizona State University Welcoming Committee. Millie enjoyed golf, watercolor painting, walking, decorating, floral arranging, and traveling. At age 94, she completed a four-mile hike with her family in the White Mountains of Arizona.
Millie was predeceased in 1990 by her husband, Francis J.; parents, George L. and Rhea King Sr.; stepmother, Adelaide King; sister, Rhea Salomon; and brothers, George L. King Jr., Calvin W. King, and Edward C. King.
Surviving are her daughter, Francine S. (Charles “CJ”) Fowler of Mexico, NY; son, Gregory P. of Tempe, AZ; grandchildren, Keri (Nick) DeManigold and Kevin (Elizabeth) Fowler; great-granddaughters, Violette and Scarlett; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 9 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse.
Millie will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Food Pantry, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
