Michalina “Mickey” A. Meaker, 77, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Francis House. Born in Lilly, PA, she moved to Syracuse in the 1950s. A graduate of West Genesee High School, Mickey was a cosmetologist and hairdresser. She was also employed with Chappell’s, Wilson’s and Bon-Ton, where she fit breast cancer survivors with prosthetic lingerie. Mickey enjoyed creating homemade greeting cards for every occasion, Christmas shopping year-round, caring for her four-legged family and making homemade jewelry. She attended St. Margaret's Catholic Church for many years.
Mickey was predeceased by her father, Martin, in 1987.
Surviving are her children, Malessa (Patrick) Sweet of Mattydale and Michael (Aimee) Meaker of California; mother, Anna Oravecz of Camillus; and grandchildren, Sabrina, Logan, Sparrow and Echo.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, December 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Mickey will be laid to rest in the Village of Liverpool Cemetery in the spring.
