Michael A. Legnetto, 64, of Howlett Hill passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, surrounded by his loving family. A lifetime resident of the Howlett Hill area, he was a proud graduate of Marcellus High School and furthered his education at Onondaga Community College before earning an associate's degree from SUNY Canton. For over 15 years, Michael owned and operated City View Construction, where he poured his heart and expertise into his work as a self-employed contractor.
A dedicated public servant, Michael was a life member and past chief of Howlett Hill Fire Department. He was also an active member of the Firefighters Association of the State of New York, New York State Association of Fire Chiefs, Onondaga County Fire Chiefs Association, and the Onondaga County Western Section Line Officers. His contributions to the fire service community were countless and deeply respected.
Beyond his professional and volunteer commitments, Michael was an avid outdoorsman who cherished time spent in nature. In earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and was a regular at the Sunday poker games held at the firehouse with close friends. Michael’s wide-ranging knowledge and generosity of spirit made him a natural teacher, always eager to share his knowledge with others. Above all, he loved his family and friends, cherishing the moments spent together. His kindness, humor, and love will be forever remembered by those who knew him.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Marilyn Legnetto; and brother, Daniel Legnetto.
Surviving are his loving wife, Holly; daughter, Deanna (Brandon Hollister) Legnetto of Howlett Hill; step-children, Kristan (Joe Pirro) Wild of Syracuse, Lauren (Steve) Long of Boca Raton, FL, Erica Wild of Baldwinsville, Michael (Carly) Wild of Syracuse and Kayla (Matthew Johnson) Wild of Alpharetta, GA; five step-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Laureen Legnetto of Howlett Hill, Sandra (Bruce) Mactaggart of Cicero, Cathy (William) VanOrder of Howlett Hill, Vincent Legnetto of Syracuse, Paul Legnetto of Memphis; sister-in-law, Kim Legnetto of Howlett Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
