Michael Joseph Breen

June 19, 1931 — February 14, 2020

Michael J. Breen, 88, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on Valentine’s Day and was reunited with his loving wife. Born in Trumansburg, he moved to Syracuse in 1940. Michael was employed with WSYR for over 30 years before retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church since the 50s and got engaged at the Holy Family Shrine on Easter Sunday in 1957. Michael enjoyed wintering in Florida, harness horses and spending time at his home. Above all, he loved to spend time with family.

Michael was predeceased by his wife, Patricia, in 1991; sisters, Ruth Fogarty and Shirley Orzell; and brother, Thomas.

Surviving are his children, Mary (Donald) Kneedler of Smyrna, DE, Martin Breen of Chicago, IL, Tom Breen of Orlando, FL and Kathleen (James) Hawley of Sheldrake Point; grandchildren, Vanessa (Chris) and Sarah Kneedler, Thomas and Scotty Hawley; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday, February 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 21 at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church. Michael will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
