Michael J. Anthony, 98, of Camillus, passed away Saturday. Born in Solvay, he attended Solvay High School and was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area. After serving in the U.S Army during World War ll, Mike returned home and began work at Camillus Cutlery where he met his wife, Peggy. He was then employed as a cement finisher for over 30 years until he retired in 1980. He was a gifted athlete who excelled his entire life as an avid bowler, golfer and baseball player. Michael especially loved spending time with his friends and family.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Nellie; sisters, Giovanna Baldino, Mary Rinaldo, and Carrie Bassile; brothers, Vincent, John, and Angelo Anthony.
Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Peggy; daughters, Sandra (John) Gunn, Michelle (James) Hunt, Denise (Robin) Trehaeven, Roberta (Thomas) Lundy; sister, Rose Anthony; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, August 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will immediately follow at the funeral home at 12 p.m. Michael will be laid to rest in Belle Isle Cemetery, Warners.
