Michael Jacura, 94, of Fairmount, passed away peacefully Friday, October 27, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he retired after 45 years from Allied Chemical Corp.
Devoted to his Catholic faith, Michael was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, traveling, was an avid SU sports and Yankee fan, and loved animals but above all, loved spending time with his family and friends.
Michael was predeceased by his wife, Clarissa; parents, John and Julia; sister, Anne Kicak, brothers, Peter and Edward; and grandson, Benjamin Puma.
Surviving are his daughters, Danette (Dr. Armando) Alam, Michele Jacura and Lisa (Daniel) Bilbo; grandchildren, Desiree Agostini, Armando, Austin and Deanna Alam, Autumn Puma, Danielle, Deidre and Dominique Bilbo; great-grandchildren, Vito Puma, Angelina and Giavanna Agostini; cousin, Helen Sobotka; godson, Michael Kicak; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice for all their care and support.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, November 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Panakhyda service will be at 6 p.m.
Services will be Thursday, November 2 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church where a Divine Liturgy for the Deceased will be celebrated. Michael will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
