Michael D. Greci, 88, of Fairmount, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Loretto. Born in Canastota, he was raised in Rome before moving to the Syracuse area in 1953. A 1946 graduate of Rome Free Academy, Michael earned his bachelor's degree from Niagara University in 1953 and was a Marine Corps veteran. He was employed with Marine Midland Bank for 36 years. Michael was a communicant of Holy Family Church and member of Catholic Charities, the Boy Scouts of America, Laubach Literacy and the Knights of Columbus. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed skiing, fishing, hunting and camping.
Michael was predeceased by his sister, Lucy; half-sister, Josephine Greci; and half-brother, Peter Greci.
Surviving are his wife of almost 64 years, Elvira "Vera"; daughters, Joan (Thomas) Cawley of Syracuse and Ann (John) Sullivan of Camillus; son, Dennis (Toni) Greci of Connecticut; grandchildren, Amanda and John Michael Sullivan, Chrystal Robinson and Heather Jacques; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Ingrid, Bridget, Brynleigh and Aubrey; sister, Angela Messineo of Rome; brothers, Joseph (Delores) Greci of South Bend, IN and Ernest Greci of Long Beach, CA; half-brothers, Anthony (Grace) Greci of Rome and Louis Greci of California; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, August 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 4 at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Michael will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery Resurrection Mausoleum, DeWitt.
