Michael Henry Conway, 85, formerly of Taunton and a man of deep Christian faith, died peacefully on Tuesday in Cicero. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he graduated from Solvay High School in 1957 and proudly served in the New York Army National Guard. A former member and usher of the First Christian Assembly in Syracuse, Mike and Patricia Mancini married there on October 6, 1962. In 1998, they joined North Syracuse Baptist Church. Mike began his printing career as a photo lithographer with Syracuse Lithographing Co., then, in the 1970s, worked as a brakeman for Conrail. He retired from Centro as a bus driver. Mike enjoyed model railroading, theater pipe organ music, weekend trips to Sylvan Beach, Syracuse Chiefs, and Yankees baseball. Most of all, he treasured his many happy years of family life on Fay Road.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Glenn Lyle “Bucky” and Laura E. (Spillett) Conway; sister, Patricia (Conway) Endres; brother, Richard S. Conway; brothers-in-law, Samuel L. Mancini and Edwin "Pete" Endres; and sister-in-law, Jeanne (Colelli) Mancini.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Patricia; son, David Mancini-Conway (Dan McGuire) of Green Valley, AZ; daughter, Lisa L. Conway (Kevin Ernst) of Lyle, WA; granddaughter, Olivia Conway Ernst; sister-in-law, Wanda Tarbell of Liverpool; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to thank the skilled nursing staff of The Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero for their loving attention to our father in his final years.
