Merle H. Piraino, 89, of Camillus, passed away Friday, August 7, 2020 at Francis House. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a graduate of Central High School. Merle was employed for 23 years with Onondaga County before retiring in 1997 and worked part-time at Raymour & Flanigan. She volunteered at Francis House and Community Hospital and was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church.
Merle was predeceased by her husband, Carmen; son, Thomas; parents, Ray and Lillian Baker; sisters, Louise Baker and Ethel Bernhardt; and brother, Ray Baker.
Surviving are her son, Frank “Chip” of St. Petersburg, FL; daughters, Karen (June Worden) Piraino of Camillus, Leslie (David) Kotula of Camillus and Melissa (Alicia) Piraino of Normal, IL; grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Piraino and Alexandra and Stephanie Kotula; great-granddaughter, Isabella Piraino; brother, Carl (JoAnne) Baker of Chittenango; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Francis House for their loving care and compassion given to Merle; Debbie Haumann, Gloria Becerra and Daisy Davis for their friendship and support; and Lindsay Deyo for her loving care and attention given to Mia.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, August 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. We will be following the NYS guidelines regarding capacity and social distancing. Face coverings are required.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, August 13 at 10 a.m. in St. Charles ~ St. Ann’s Parish, 4471 Onondaga Blvd., Syracuse. Merle will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
