Maurice “Joseph” Monti, 75, of Camillus, passed away Sunday at Francis House. Born in Syracuse, he received his master’s degree in social work from Syracuse University. Joseph was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a Russian translator. In 1981, he founded and ran for many years his own counseling practice, Professional Counseling Services. A wonderful chef, Joseph enjoyed playing pool, cards, Yahtzee, and golfing. He had the best sense of humor, words of wisdom and loved spending time with his family.
Maurice was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Mary; and sister, Connie Smith.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Terry; daughters, Christy and Marisa Monti; brothers, Richard and Thomas (Nancy); sister, Barbara (Paul) Rounds; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, February 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 25 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Joseph will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
