Maureen Polech-Marion, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at home. She was a gifted writer who earned a scholarship to SU through the School Press Institute. A longtime public servant, she spent 36 years with the US Postal Service, leading public relations efforts across the Northeast, including proudly delivering relief after Hurricanes Sandy and Maria and working on Operation Santa programming. Prior to her postal career, she worked for the New York State Assembly leadership.
Surviving are her son, Alexander, niece, nephew, and many young people she mentored over the years.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, May 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Tribute in Words celebrating her life and creative work will be held in July.
