Mary Z. Kitt, 90, of Rochester and formerly of DeWitt, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at St. John’s Home in Rochester. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, she was born on Monday, June 20, 1921 and was the daughter of Lukyn Zaleski and Tatianna Ohrynchuk Zaleski. She moved to Rochester after living in DeWitt for 53 years. Mary graduated from Eastwood High School and attended Syracuse University. She retired from J.P. Morgan Chase after 14 years and was a member of its Retiree Club. She formerly was employed by Syracuse University in the Registrar's Office. A communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mary was a former member of the church choir and a member of the Apostleship of Prayer Sacred Heart of Jesus Society. She was also a member of the Ukrainian National Assn. and the Ukrainian National Home. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Nicholas, on 11/24/2000; sister, Anna Burak; and her brothers, Peter and Michael Zaleski. Surviving are her sons, Raymond of Sea Cliff, Long Island and Gregory of Rochester; brother, William Zaleski of North Syracuse; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus with Panakhyda service at 6 p.m. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 10 at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church where a Divine Liturgy for the Deceased will be celebrated.
