Mary Sweeney Honors, 88, of Fairmount, passed away Sunday at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. Born and raised in Auburn, she resided in Fairmount for the past 50 years. Mary was a graduate of Central High School. Throughout her life, she held various secretarial and retail positions in the Auburn and Syracuse area. She retired from Syracuse Developmental Center. A communicant of Holy Family Church, she was a member of its Altar & Rosary Society. Mary was predeceased by her husband, James E. Honors Jr., in 1973; daughters-in-law, Carol Honors, in 2012 and Kerry Honors, in 2016; and brothers, Earl and Alvin. Surviving are her sons, Daniel, Thomas and Kevin, all of Syracuse; grandchildren, Kelly, Patrick, Michael, Timothy Honors, and Sarah Honors; great-granddaughter, Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, February 24 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, February 25 at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church. Mary will be laid to rest in St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery, Skaneateles.
