Mary Speach Petta Miller, 108, of Solvay, passed away Saturday at home surrounded by her loving family. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a buyer for Addis Co. for over 30 years, retiring in 1976. Mary was also the co-owner of the “Almost New Shop” in Skaneateles. She was a proud member of the Italian Heritage Society and other professional organizations throughout her life. Mary, better known as “Grandma Cookie”, was best known for her crocheting, cooking and baking. She was an avid reader and jigsaw and word search enthusiast.
Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Anthony Petta; second husband, Charles Miller; parents, Michael and Theresa Speach; son, Nicholas Petta; seven brothers; two sisters and two grandsons.
Surviving are her daughter, Jeannette Burrows of Solvay; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 43 great-great grandchildren; three great-great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, December 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee Street, Camillus.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 9 at 10 a.m. at Buranich Funeral Home. Mary will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery, Skaneateles. Face masks required for both the calling hours and service.
