Mary P. Duda, 96, formerly of the Bernardine Apartments, Syracuse, died Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was born on Tuesday, December 8, 1909, the daughter of Mark and Martha Pitoniak. A graduate of St. Lucys School. Mary was employed for 33 years with the City of Syracuse Common Council, retiring in 1971. She was also a former communicant of St. Lucys Church and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She was a member of CBA Mothers Club. She enjoyed playing Bingo. Mary's husband, Paul P. Duda, died March 14, 1981. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Paul E. and Kate Duda of Camillus; sister, Margaret Pitoniak of Syracuse; brother, John Pitoniak of Solvay; grandchildren, Michael Duda, Lynne Ritcher and Matthew Duda and great-grandchildren, Abigail and Daniel Richer and Jake and Owen Duda. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus with Rev. Jon K. Werner officiating. Friends may call preceding the funeral from noon to 1:30 p.m. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, DeWitt.
