Mary Lou Hodge, 89 of Camillus, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Loretto. Born in Buffalo, she lived in Syracuse until moving to Camillus in 1970.
Mary Lou received a bachelor’s degree from Keuka College and a master’s degree from Syracuse University. She was a Christian education director for First Presbyterian Church of Marcellus, Plymouth Congregational Church and Cazenovia Presbyterian Church.
Mary Lou was a member of Fairmount Community Church United Church of Christ. She was a volunteer at Maxwell Memorial Library and Literacy Volunteers of Greater Syracuse but above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, George, in 2006; and sister, Virginia Copland.
Surviving are her son, David (Esther) Hodge of Tully; daughters, Karen of Fayetteville and Susan (Richard) Copland of North Carolina; granddaughters, Karli Pontillo and Kathleen (David) Rice; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Lucas; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, February 2 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Fairmount Community Church United Church of Christ, 4801 W. Genesee St., Syracuse.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church. Mary Lou will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
