Mary Jane (Conlon) Ulrich

August 3, 1926 — September 27, 2021

Mary Jane (Conlon) Ulrich, 95, of 118 Crabapple Lane, Syracuse, NY passed away on September 27. Born in Jersey City, NJ on August 3, 1926, Mary Jane moved to Geddes in 1970 after living in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She was one of six children to James and Margaret Conlon and grew up in Kearny, New Jersey. Mary Jane led an active life attending her children’s and grandchildren’s athletic games, playing competitive tennis, vacationing annually on the Jersey shore with family and traveling. In her early years, Mary Jane worked for Bell Labs and was pictured as a model for Bell Labs new telephone operator’s head gear in the National Geographic magazine. She led an active and happy life and was the “rock” of the family. Mary Jane was spirited and strong willed but a loving and gentle soul who imprinted this strong legacy on her children. She loved the family holidays and the crazy activity that ensued. She was very active at Holy Family Church and, for a time, a Eucharistic Minister.

In Mary Jane’s desk, she had an envelope which had handwritten words of her “favorite quotes”. One of them was: “Kindness and sweetness are beyond compare” and that describes who Mary Jane was and what she lived by.

For the past 4 years, Mary Jane has had 24/7 in-home help and her dedicated care givers showed endless support, comfort and companionship. The family is very appreciative of their time, attention and energy.

Mary Jane was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, George Joseph; and daughter, Carolyn MaHarry.

Surviving are her children, Garrett (Linda) Ulrich of Longboat Key, FL., David (Colleen) Ulrich of Lavallette, NJ, Jane (Richard) Rubsamen of Incline Village, NV, Robert (Cindy) Ulrich of Dana Point, CA, Maureen (Joseph) Perleoni of Camillus; son-in-law, Joel MaHarry of Ojai, CA.; grandchildren, Meredith (Scott) Kiliyanski, Lara (Ken) Leone; Michelle (Ralph) Sirignano, James (Kelsy) Ulrich, Michael and Robert Rubsamen, Kate (Tom) Brueck, Kaelyn (Ben) Leger, Lindsay (Ryan) Benson, Taylor Ulrich, Joey Perleoni; great-grandchildren, Kemper Kiliyanski, Baileyana, Lorelai and Lincoln Leone, Presley Sirignano, Brooks Brueck, Emery, Mack and Bodie Leger, Brooklyn, Bryce and Chloe Benson.
