Mary J. Buhai, 92, of Camillus, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. Born in Auburn on Sunday, May 4, 1919, she was the daughter of Michael Tanchak and Anna Berdy Tanchak. She lived in Camillus for 55 years. Mary was employed by Merchants National Bank. A communicant of Holy Family Church in Fairmount, she was also a member of the YWCA and an avid SU fan. Her family was her biggest love. To her family, Mary was caring, generous and loving. They will miss her greatly. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Michael, on February 8, 1998; and sisters, Helen Torzon and Anne Neddenien. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah (Roland) Grosse of Victor; son and daughter-in-law, Michael S. (Catherine Young) Buhai of San Diego, California; sister, Paula Holmes of Auburn; brother and sister-in-law, John (Elsie) Tanchak of Seneca Falls; granddaughters, Katie and Michelle; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, September 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 21 at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Mary will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
