Mary Feathers Steer, 91, of Camillus, passed away Friday. Born in Waterloo, she was raised in The Valley and was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. Mary was a graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy. Her love of fashion and style drew her to work at Addis and Flah’s Department Stores, among other local fashion retailers. Mary’s elegance, wit, and good taste always charmed those around her. She was a communicant and choir member of both St. James Church in Cazenovia and later St. Joseph’s Church in Camillus. She was a member of Limestone Creek Hunt Club. And she loved to entertain her family and friends.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Donald Sr., in 2007; parents, Earl and Elizabeth Feathers; infant son, Matthew; daughters, Linda Cost Ryan and Patricia Steer; brother, James Feathers; sister, Janette Webster; and daughter-in-law, Linda Steer.
Surviving are her sons, Scott (Michelle) Steer of Brooklyn, Don Steer of Warners and Jeffrey (Ann) Steer of Marquette, MI; brother, William (Lawrence Laban) Feathers of Tucson, AZ; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Mary will be laid to rest in St. James Cemetery in Cazenovia.
