Mary T. Ellis, 79, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Camillus, passed away Monday, April 19, 2010 in Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska. Born in Manhattan on Saturday, June 7, 1930, she was the daughter of Patrick Dowd and Nellie Flynn Dowd. She was raised in the Bronx, lived in Garden City, Omaha, Nebraska and Lafayette, Indiana before settling in Syracuse during the blizzard of 1977. She moved back to Omaha in May of 2009 to be near her son. Mary retired from Skaneateles Savings Bank. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, she served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Mary was proud of her Irish heritage. She volunteered, along with her late husband, at Unity Kitchen. Mary’s husband, John “Jack” died in 1991. Surviving are her daughter, Maureen North of Syracuse; son and daughter-in-law, John and Terri of Omaha, Nebraska; and grandchildren, Ryan Ellis of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Caitlin, Connor and Liam Ellis, all of Omaha, Nebraska, and Stephen North of Syracuse; brother, John Dowd of San Jose California; and one niece and several nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 23 at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mary will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. Contributions may be made to Unity Kitchen, P.O.
