Mary Ellen Anastasi

Mary Ellen Anastasi, of Camillus, NY passed away Wednesday May 29, 2019 at Upstate Hospital. Born in Troy, NY she was raised in Watervliet, NY and moved to the Syracuse area in 1960. A graduate of Academy of the Holy Names in Albany, NY, Mary Ellen worked at the Syracuse Auto Auction and Tri-State Auto Auction as an office manager. She also worked at Syracuse University at the Carrier Dome Box Office. Mary Ellen was a member of the Links at Sunset Ridge and Tuscarora Golf Club, where she enjoyed golfing with her husband and friends. She volunteered at Francis House and was a communicant of The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter.

Mary Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Mayor James and Margaret Cavanaugh; and brothers, James Jr. and Gerald Cavanaugh.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Frank; children, Linda Anastasi of San Francisco, CA, Ellen Anastasi of Syracuse, David (Krissy) Anastasi of Savannah, GA and Mark (Michelle) Anastasi of Fabius; sister, Margaret "Peggy" Poulin of Latham; brothers, Brian (Barbara) Cavanaugh of Latham and Michael (Kathy) Cavanaugh of Slingerlands; sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Carol Cavanaugh; grandchildren, Aaron (Nicole), Vincent (Kaleigh), Audrey, Nathan (Dana) and Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron and Natalie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family welcomes friends to visit with them on Monday, June 3 from 10:15 to 11 a.m. at The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter, 4782 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse prior to services.

A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in the church. Mary Ellen will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
