Mary E. Simmons

Mary E. Simmons, 89, formerly of Niskayuna, NY, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 in Agawam, Mass. Born in Saugus, Mass., she was a graduate of Swampscott High School, Swampscott, Mass. She lived most of her life in Niskayuna as a homemaker. Mary was a long-time volunteer at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Schenectady and long-time member of the Edison Country Club in Rexford, NY. She was also a surviving spouse member of the GE Elfun Society. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Harvey O. Simmons Jr. in 1999; and daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and John Swiatocha in 2013. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Harvey O. and Doreen Simmons III of Skaneateles; granddaughters, Olivia (Dave) McNeal of Norwalk, CT, Grace (Eric) Zuncic of New York, Emily (Dr. Bryan) Kasperowski of Longmeadow, MA and Adrienne (Mark) Turner of Philadelphia, PA; grandson, Harvey O. Simmons IV of Boston, MA; and great-grandchildren, Vivian McNeal, Sydney, Emma and Jack Kasperowski and Owen Turner. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, July 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, July 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 23 in St. Joseph's Church. Private burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
