Mary C. Pavlyak, 90, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the Hearth at Greenpoint. Born in Auburn on Saturday, April 2, 1921, she was the daughter of Daniel Cerza and Tekle Zuzulo Cerza. She lived in Fairmount before moving to Geddes in 1972 and to Liverpool in 2009. Mary retired from the Bon-Ton in Camillus and was previously employed by Dey Brothers Department Store in Fairmount. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and member of its Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking. Mary was predeceased by her husband, George, in 2010; and sisters, Inez Szakalski, Alma Volpe, Olga Giannone, and Lillian Giannone. Surviving are her daughter, Michele Pavlyak of Irving, Texas; son, George of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, George Pavlyak II and Alissa Pavlyak; sister, Clara Khoury of Geneva; and brother, Mario Cerza of Kendall. Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Private graveside services for family members will be in the chapel of Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 30 Cross St., Auburn, NY 13021.
