Mary Ann Griffin, 78, of Camillus, went home to God Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Francis House. Born in Hamilton, she was a 1957 graduate of St. Lawrence University and master’s degree holder from Syracuse University. She taught English for over 30 years at West Genesee High School. Mary Ann was an active communicant of St. Joseph's Church. An avid golfer, she was a member of Tuscarora Golf Club for over 35 years. She also enjoyed skiing, tennis, playing pitch and bridge. Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2002. Surviving are her daughter, Kelly (Richard) Pirong of Syracuse; son, Gregory and fiancée, Sarah Piskor, of Liverpool; grandchildren, Taylor, Emma, Richard Jr., Kimberly, Jonathan and Joey; sister, Joan Flynn of Pomona; and brother, Tom Fitzpatrick of Jacksonville, FL. Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 22 at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Mary Ann will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
