Camillus

Dr. Marshall P. Dubuc, D.P.M., 87, of Camillus, gracefully departed from this life to join the Lord on Tuesday. Born on December 10, 1936, in Springfield, MA, Marshall led a life rich in service, love, and dedication.

Following his high school graduation, Marshall embarked on an academic journey at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne, laying the groundwork for his illustrious career in medicine. Subsequently, he pursued his passion for healing by attending the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, earning the esteemed title of doctor of podiatric medicine (D.P.M) in June 1963. For nearly four decades, Marshall operated his own practice in Syracuse and Camillus, leaving an indelible mark on his community until his retirement in 2002.

Marshall's life intertwined with love when he met Shirley Carol Luczak at a USO Halloween dance in 1955. Their union blossomed into a remarkable partnership, spanning 67 years of marriage, filled with love, mutual support, and cherished memories.

In addition to his professional achievements, Marshall dutifully served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959, contributing his expertise as a technical instructor and weather observer. His commitment to service extended beyond the military, as he volunteered alongside Shirley for WAVES Ambulance, exemplifying their shared dedication to aiding others in times of need.

An Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, Marshall instilled the values of leadership, service, and outdoor adventure in his family and community. A man of diverse interests and boundless energy, Marshall embraced life with fervor, engaging in various sports such as tennis, cycling, and hiking. He and Shirley embarked on countless adventures together, exploring the world hand in hand. In his later years, Marshall found joy and camaraderie at the Camillus Senior Center and Canton Woods Senior Center, where he delighted in friendly games of pool and cards, endearing himself to all who had the pleasure of his company.

Marshall cherished his role as a devoted husband to his wife and father to his sons, Paul, John, and Philip.

Above all, he was a gentle man.

Marshall was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Laurencia Dubuc; and brothers, Joseph, Albert, and George.

Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Shirley; sons, Paul (Mary Beth) of Columbus, OH, John of Scottsdale, AZ, Philip (Tracey) of Camillus; sister, Claudia Richardson of Westminster, VT; grandchildren, Jessica (Lucas) Seitz and Bryan Dubuc; great-grandchildren, Mya and Bryce; and numerous nieces and nephews.
