Marjorie Zysset O'Hern, 98, of Fairmount, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at home. Born in Syracuse on Monday, September 28, 1914, she was the daughter of Albert Leonard and Ethel Florence (Spillet) Zysset. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, Marjorie retired in 1973 after 30 years of teaching in the West Genesee School District. She was a graduate of Syracuse University and founding member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. A member of the Fairmount Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary, she was a longtime volunteer at Community-General Hospital and Van Duyn Home & Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, camping in the Adirondacks and spending time with her family. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, William Joseph O’Hern, on May 22, 2009. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Judith and John Meagher of Cato; son and daughter-in-law, William J. “Jay” and Bette O’Hern III of Cleveland; grandchildren, James Meagher, William O'Hern IV, Susan (James) Steverman, Kerry (Michael) Suppa, Michael (Dianne) O'Hern and Thomas (Laurie) O'Hern; great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Evan, Azetta, Holly, Rory, Ryan, Edward, Laura and William; great-great-granddaughter, Lilly Anna; brother, Edward (Shirley) Zysset of Smithtown; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus.
