Marjorie Coffee Latus, 92, of Simsbury, Connecticut, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. Born in Utica on Saturday, October 26, 1918, she was the daughter of George Cheney Coffee and Lulu M. Smith Coffee. She lived in Clayville for 22 years and Cassville for 36 years. She later resided in New Hartford for 29 years until moving to Simsbury in 2006. Marjorie was a 1936 graduate of Sauquoit Valley Central School and 1940 graduate of the University of Maine in Orono. She was a former registered dietitian at Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. She was a former communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Clayville and St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Thomas Latus, on November 9, 1978; and son-in-law, Tom Shedlock, in 2010. Surviving are her children, Frederick (Ellen) Latus of Whitesboro, Donald (Susan) Latus of W. Barnstable, Massachusetts, Ann (Sam) Buranich of Camillus, Ellen (Joe) Loiacono of Herkimer, Susan (Pat) Daly of Simsbury, Connecticut, Marjorie (Tom Rasmussen) Latus of Weatogue, Connecticut, Dr. Thomas (Sanford Hyson) Latus of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Patricia (John) Barry of Hopewell Junction, Mary Elizabeth Shedlock of Wallingford, Pennsylvania, Justin (Josie) Latus of New Hartford and Jane (Ken Jones) Latus of Canton, Connecticut; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two nieces and two nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 2 in St. Joseph’s Church, Camillus. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in St. Mary´s Cemetery, Clayville. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus.
