Mariya Siruk, 88, of Camillus, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday.
Born and raised in Ukraine, Mariya immigrated to the United States in 1990 in pursuit of a new chapter in life. A skilled seamstress, she dedicated her early years to her trade in Ukraine and also found joy working with children at a nursery school. After moving to the U.S., she worked as an eyeglass technician at Optogenics of Syracuse Inc.
Mariya had a deep passion for gardening, tailoring, and knitting, finding peace and fulfillment in each. She cherished her church community at First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church and held unwavering faith in the power of prayer.
Mariya was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vasiliy; and three sisters.
Surviving are her loving daughters, Svetlana (Sergey) Batyuk and Zoya (Vasiliy) Dinis, both of Syracuse and Raisa (Victor) Vernyuk of Cleveland, OH; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Andrey (Donna) Bobko of Tucson, AZ; sisters, Olga Tsvor of Syracuse and Jeana (Vasiliy) Omelyanovski of Greer, SC; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A service to honor Mariya’s life will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 7 p.m. at First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church. A second service will follow on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the church.
Mariya will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church, 3875 Warners Rd., Syracuse, NY 13209.
