Marion Mike L. Hatcher, 88, of Westvale, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at his daughter's home in Clayville. Born in Marion, Ohio on Sunday, February 24, 1918, he was the son of Rex Hatcher and Orpha Dunson. He lived on his family's farm until moving to the Cortland-Homer area and later to Westvale. Mike was an Army veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Silver Star for bravery while serving in New Guinea. He was employed by GTE Sylvania for 20 years, retiring in 1980 and was formerly a self-employed carpenter and contractor. Mike was a member of the West Genesee United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Lee Hatcher, in 1969. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Bertha Miller; daughters and sons-in-law, Joan Hatcher and Duane Patocka, Carol Hatcher and Peter Jacobs, and Nancy and Luis Luna; siblings, Gladys, Avonel and Lewis; grandchildren, Miguel and Jesse Luna, and Joseph and Katie Jacobs. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus with Rev. Elizabeth Morey and Rev. Fred Magley officiating. Friends may call Friday, December 1, 2006 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
