Marilyn A. Gundell Scott, 96, of Camillus, passed away at home on Friday. Born in Rochester, she lived in Watertown before moving to Camillus in 1956. She was a 1949 graduate of Villa Maria/Gannon University and retired after 25 years with the Onondaga County Department of Social Services. A devoted mother, wife, grandma and great-grandma, Marilyn was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and member of the Altar & Rosary Society, funeral guild and formerly the Legion of Mary. She also volunteered with the Alzheimer's Association and loved playing Bridge.
Marilyn was predeceased by her first husband, John Gundell, in 1971; second husband, Harold Scott, in 2000; and brothers, Walter and Rodger Peer.
Surviving are her son, Kevin Gundell of Camillus; daughters, Karen (John) Hopkins and Katherine (Robert) Coon, both of Camillus, and Karel (Frederick) Pappalardo of Charlotte, NC; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, January 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus A funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Marilyn will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church Food Pantry, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031 or to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
