Marilyn Alice Schwanke, 77, of Camillus, passed away quietly on Tuesday August 7, 2012 at Francis House. Born in Syracuse on Saturday, February 16, 1935, she was a life resident of the Syracuse area. She resided in Solvay for many years before moving to Camillus. Marilyn graduated from Solvay High School and was employed at Fisher Body Division of General Motors, retiring in 1992 as a personnel supervisor. She was active in many organizations, including golf and bowling leagues. She was a volunteer for 19 years at The Centers at St. Camillus and an active communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary Schwanke; and brother, George William Schwanke. Surviving are her sister, Kathleen Hicks of Camillus; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Kathleen Schwanke of Westvale and James and Sharon Schwanke of North Syracuse; sister-in-law, Marie Schwanke of Camillus; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, August 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Friday, August 10 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Marilyn will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Geddes. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jonathan Cancer Fund, Inc., 401 N.
