Marie (Poirier) Twomey, 91, of Camillus, passed away Monday at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a 1947 graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and Powelson Business Institute. Marie retired in 1985 from Crucible Specialty Metals and previously worked at Solvay Bank. She enjoyed learning about the history of Syracuse.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Donald; son, David; parents, Godfrey and Leona Poirier; brother, Gerard Poirier; sister, Yvonne Rita; and Daniel Barrett, her companion of many years.
Surviving are her daughter, Christine (Richard) Utt-Brabant of Liverpool; son, Rick Twomey of Euless, TX; sister-in-law, Judy Twomey Rogers of Park City, UT; other family members, including David R. Utt of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, August 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Prayers will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday, August 30 at the funeral home and a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Marie will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
