Marie E. Kemp, 91, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at Cortland Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Home. Born and raised in Queens, settling in Syracuse in 1995. Marie retired from Weigand Brothers, Inc. Funeral Home, Williston Park, in 1995 after 14 years. A member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Skaneateles Food Pantry, and Community General Hospital. Marie was a skilled knitter and knitted hats and sweaters for many charities. She enjoyed a good game of Pinochle, Yahtzee, and Bingo as well as completing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Marie loved watching birds at her bird feeder, but, above all, she truly loved spending time with her family.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Robert in 2018; and daughter, Susan Marie Kemp in 1977.
Surviving are her daughter, Ellen Krumm of North Bend, WA; sons, Steven (Karyn) Kemp of Ypsilanti, MI, Robert (Marie) Kemp of Tully, and Thomas (Tammy) Kemp of Camp Hill, PA; sister, Jane Budd of Port Jervis; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, June 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Skaneateles.
Marie will be laid to rest on Friday, June 16 at 11 a.m. in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale.
