Margaret “Peggy” Spencer Sherwood, 84, of Warners, passed away Thursday at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, Peggy was a 1955 graduate of Solvay High School. She was employed by West Genesee Central School District for over 25 years as a teacher’s aide and a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church. She enjoyed spending winters at her home in Florida. Other interests included reading, puzzles, traveling, camping, bowling and square dancing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Eleanor (Elliott) Spencer; and brothers, Frank and Edward Spencer.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Philip; son, Philip (Lyn) Sherwood of Camillus; daughters, Sharon (Jorge) Rivera and Melissa (Paul) Cantello, both of Warners; grandchildren, Carrie, Drew, Abigail, and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Leah, Ethan, Anamae, and Keira; sisters, Dorothy Graulich of Levittown, PA and Eleanor Hill of Baldwinsville; brother, Charles (Sue) Spencer of Baldwinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, April 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 5 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Marianne Cope Parish (Our Lady of Peace Church), 203 Halcomb St., Lakeland.
Peggy will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Warners.
