Margaret "Maggie" (Palumbo) Eccleston, 88, a lifetime resident of Camillus, passed away at her daughter's home on Monday, April 17, 2017. She was baptized in 1928 in St. Joseph's Church making her a lifetime communicant of the church, and was a graduate of Camillus High School.
Margaret retired in 1990 after 30 years with the Onondaga County Health Dept. of Nursing. She previously worked with the Syracuse Health Dept. where she participated in the pilot program for the first home care team of services. She organized and was elected as the first president of the Camillus Elks Ladies' Auxiliary. Margaret volunteered for over 12 years at Community General Hospital. Maggie also enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved to dance.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, in 1990; and son-in-law, Charles DeVaul, in 2000.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Danna DeVaul of Cazenovia; and loving granddaughter, Danielle.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 20 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Margaret will be laid to rest in Maplewood Cemetery, Camillus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031.
