Margaret Eleanor “Queenie” Cronin, 85, of Syracuse, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Wednesday, April 23, 1924, she was the daughter of William John Driscoll and Genevieve Irene Harvey Driscoll. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she graduated from St. Anthony's High School in 1942. A communicant of Holy Family Church, Queenie retired in 2005 after 31 years working in the parish office. She previously was employed for 30 years with NY Telephone Co., retiring in 1972. She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1974. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Karen Cronin of North Andover, Massachusetts; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 1 p.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, October 25, 2009 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Queenie will be laid to rest in St. Agnes Cemetery, Syracuse.
