Margaret Bertasso Steves, 72, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in Syracuse. Born in Albany on Friday, October 20, 1939, she lived in the Albany area and attended the College of Saint Rose and moved to Syracuse after graduating from Ellis Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. Margaret recently retired after 31 years with University Pediatrics and previously was a head nurse of the pediatric unit at Syracuse Memorial Hospital (now Crouse Hospital). She was a communicant of Holy Family Church. She loved children and spending time with her family and was always thinking of others. Margaret was predeceased by her daughter, Maura Steves McLaughlin, in 2008; and her parents, Peter J. Bertasso and Ann Cain Martin. Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Robert; son and daughter-in-law, Ian and Amy of Decatur, Georgia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Bob Molloy and Patricia Stearns, all of Schenectady, Martha and Glenn Digsby of Tampa, Florida and Anne Bertasso of New Jersey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Kathy of Scotia and Edward and Claudia of Schenectady; grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth and Katherine; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Monday, October 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 2 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Margaret will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
