Margaret "Margie" Ann (Ryan) Brady, 69, a lifelong resident of Tipperary Hill, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at home, surrounded by her loving and devoted family after a yearlong struggle with ovarian cancer. Born in Auburn on Monday, May 3, 1943, Margaret was the daughter of Walter T. and Katherine D. (Butler) Ryan. She attended St. Brigid's Elementary, St. Patrick's High School and Powelson Business School. Margaret was employed by Crum & Forster Insurance Co. for 10 years, secretary of St. Patrick's School for 23 years until the school closed in 2006, and then bookkeeper of St. Patrick's Church, for three years. All this while being a devoted and loving wife and mother. Margaret was involved with her daughter's Irish step dancing career, traveling all over the Northeast, Canada, and Florida to attend Irish feiseanna, and her son's West End P.B.A. Little League and Cub Scouts. She also became a huge NASCAR fan. She was a volunteer at many St. Patrick’s School and parish events, including the annual St Patrick's Irish Festival for 20 years, and served as a Eucharistic minister. She was awarded the 2012 St. Patrick's Church Irish Heritage Award for her lifelong dedication to the school and parish. Margaret was known for her love of family, her strong, abiding Catholic faith, her work for St. Patrick's School and Church, and her love of country. She will be greatly missed and always remembered in the hearts of her family and many friends. Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her brother, John Ryan, on November 10, 2010. In addition to her husband Michael of 40 years, Margaret is survived by her son, Michael R. Brady of Syracuse; daughter, Marne R. Brady of Rochester; sister, Donna Kaiser of Syracuse; "special brother," Tom Hickey of Fairport; "special sister" and our steel magnolia, Marjorie “Sissy” von Knoblauch of Camillus; many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and her devoted pet cat, Boo. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, July 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 West Genesee St, Camillus. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 2 at the funeral home and at 1:30 p.m. in St. Patrick's Church where Reverend John Fenlon and her cousin, Monsignor George Sheehan, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Onondaga County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
