Lucy Panzino, 94, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012, in her loving husband’s arms, at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was born on Thursday, January 17, 1918, and was the daughter of Anthony Cusano and Anna Serio Cusanoa. She was a graduate of Eastwood High School and moved to Camillus in 1960. Lucy worked as a seamstress at Learbury's for many years. An active communicant of St. Joseph's Church, she was a member of its Altar & Rosary Society, Legion of Mary, Funeral Guild and also a money counter. She was active in making over 30,000 rosaries for people all over the world. Lucy was an avid sportswoman and excelled as a softball player, playing first base for many championship teams. She was a member of the Camillus Elks Ladies' Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, and the Camillus Senior Citizens. She was a lunch aide at East Hill Elementary School and a great cook and baker. Besides family and friends, Lucy enjoyed life in general. She will be sadly missed. Lucy was predeceased by her son, Anthony; and brothers, Thomas, Peter, John, Anthony, Michael, Nickolas and Jacob Cusano. Surviving are her devoted husband of 60 years, Frank Joseph Panzino; daughter, Mary Anne (Trish Miller) Panzino of Minoa; sons, Anthony (Angela Sausser) of Columbus, Ohio and Francis (Ruth) of Placentia, California; sister, Mary (Michael) Frenza of Syracuse; brother, Mark Cusano of Hollywood, California; sister-in-law, Jean Cusano; four granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Friday, December 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Saturday, December 22 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Lucy will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery.
