Louise Massaro Patapow

Louise Massaro Patapow, 96, of Solvay, passed away Saturday at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a graduate of North High School and worked at First Trust and Merchants Banks. In 1975, Louise completed the BOCES LPN Program and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked at Van Duyn Nursing Home, St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center and Community General Hospital. Louise enjoyed shopping and never passed up a good bargain. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
   
Louise was predeceased in 2004 by her husband of 53 years, Walter; grandson, Michael Gerace; sister, Nikki Hughes; and brother, Leonard Massaro.

Surviving are her sons, Alan (Charlene) Patapow of Syracuse and Michael (Anne) Patapow of Palm Coast, FL; daughters, Pamela (Joe) Gerace of Camillus, Sharon (Morgan) O'Donnell of Onondaga Hill and Barbara Patapow of Solvay; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

A private funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 1 in Saint Marianne Cope at St. Cecilia's Church, 1001 Woods Rd., Syracuse. 

Louise will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the CNY SPCA, 5878 E. Molloy Rd., Syracuse, NY 13211.
