Louise V. Mercurio, 88, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday at Crouse Hospital. Born and raised in Solvay, she then settled in Camillus after marriage. A graduate of Solvay High School, Louise was a secretary at Crucible Steel Corp. for 10 years until becoming a mother and raising her children became her top priority. A communicant of Holy Family Church, she served as a Eucharistic minister. Louise was an avid bowler, enjoyed visits to the casino, and spending her summers at Mil’s Cottages in Clayton, NY, for the last 50 years. Louise relished attending the New York State Fair, especially for the Belgian waffles and the “I Got It” game. Her grandsons meant everything to her. She loved them dearly and truly enjoyed attending their sporting events.
Louise was predeceased in 2007 by her husband, Richard; parents, Stanley and Josephine Stefanski; and son, Gregory.
Surviving are her sons, Steve (Beth) of Camillus and Richard (Nadia DiGiallonardo) of New York City; and grandsons, Maximus and Owen Mercurio, both of Camillus.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, January 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 7 at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse.
Louise will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
