Louis C. "Curly" Petrangelo

Camillus

Louis C. “Curly” Petrangelo, 100, of Camillus passed away Monday at Upstate University Hospital. Born in Solvay, he was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. Curly was a 1939 graduate of Warners High School and worked at Crucible Industries for 42 years, retiring in 1984. A communicant of Holy Family Church, he was also a longtime member of the Gem & Mineral Society of Syracuse, Inc.

Curly was predeceased in 2015 by his wife of 69 years, the former Gertrude Pickerell; his older brothers and sisters; and grandson, Matthew. 

Surviving are his daughters, Carol Lukaszewicz of Fort Edward and Linda Cangemi of Weedsport; son, Gerald; former daughter-in-law, Dianna Petrangelo; grandchildren, Tessa and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Dylan and Miles.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, December 2 from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church.

Curly will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Church Food Pantry, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219 or to a charity of one’s choice.
