Louis J. Donahue, 90, of Camillus, passed away Friday at the Centers at St. Camillus. Born in Seneca Falls, he was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area and a graduate of Most Holy Rosary and Le Moyne College. An Army veteran of WW II, he was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. Louis worked as an educator for over 30 years, retiring as principal of Hazard Street Middle School in 1984. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed gardening and reading. Louis loved traveling and doing home improvements but above all, loved spending time with his family.
Louis was predeceased by his wife, Doris, in 2013; and sisters, Kate Curtin and Anne DeSocio.
Surviving are his daughter, Mary Beth (Rich) Preall of Camillus; sons, Michael (Patti) of Baldwinsville, Martin, Kevin (Laurie), and Thomas (Mary), all of Camillus, and Patrick (Penny) of Warners; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, January 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, February 1 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church.
Louis will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
