Louis A. Pellegrino Jr., 70, of Onondaga Hill, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at home. Born in Dobbs Ferry, he grew up in White Plains. Louis graduated with a teaching degree from Oswego State University and was employed with the West Genesee Central School District as an Industrial Arts teacher for 13 years. After teaching, Lou continued his career in the commercial roofing business, first with Pyramid and later with Apple Roofing. Lou could build and fix anything and was never without a project that helped friends or family, often behind the scenes. He found the greatest joy spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, in the summer at Otisco Lake.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Janice Muir; sons, Louis "Tony" (Celia) Pellegrino III of Glen Ridge, NJ, Todd (Janine) Pellegrino of Syracuse and Mark (Michelle) Pellegrino of Manhattan; sister, Sylvia (Gifford Stack) Swanson of Oak Island, NC; grandchildren, Lily, Alex, Maxwell, Jake, Beau and Anderson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, January 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 29 at 10 a.m. in The Church of St. Michael & St. Peter, 4782 West Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse. Louis will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
