Louis A. Melillo, 91, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021. Born and raised in Brockway, PA, he served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and then settled in Syracuse. Louis graduated from Brockway High School and was employed with Pitney Bowes for 25 years before retiring in 1987. He was a communicant and head usher of Holy Family Church and member of the American Legion. Louis was an avid gardener and cook, enjoyed wintering in Florida at his home and loved to spend time with his family.
Louis was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Frances; sister, Donna Snyder; and brother, Samuel.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, the former Anne “Betty” Leahey; daughters, Kathy (Bill) Salvaterra of Syracuse, Judy Melillo of Syracuse and Susan (George) Sedlack of Camillus; sons, Dennis of Fresno, CA, David (Jen) of Camillus and James of Camillus; grandchildren, April and Emily Salvaterra, Alexandra Lang and Samantha Caram; great-grandchildren, Miles, Dean and Margaret Lang; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, June 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 2 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse. Louis will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
