Loretta "Lori" Smyth Bohemier, 64, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday. A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, Lori was known for her warm spirit, her love of animals, and her quick wit that brought joy to all who knew her.
Lori graduated from West Genesee High School and proudly worked for over five years as a custodian within the West Genesee Central School District. Her family was her greatest source of joy. Lori cherished every moment spent with them, whether sharing laughter, stories, or simply being in their company. She was an avid animal lover who found peace and happiness in their companionship, which was a testament to her gentle and caring nature.
Lori was predeceased by her father, Patrick Smyth in 2015; and brother, Patrick Smyth in 1957.
Surviving are her daughter, Jodi (Jason Rockwell) Farrington of Solvay; son, Steven (Sarah) of Solvay; grandchildren, Damien and Lennon; mother, Janet Smyth of Camillus; sister, Ellen Hobbs of Camillus; brother, Christopher (Janet) Smyth of Syracuse; nephews, Jay and Todd Hobbs and Shay Smyth.
To celebrate Lori’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will follow in the funeral home.
Lori will be laid to rest in St. James Cemetery, Cazenovia.
In lieu of flowers, Lori’s family asks that contributions be made in her memory to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, 1 Conservation Place, Syracuse, New York 13204, in recognition of her love for animals and her commitment to conservation.
Lori will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have shared in her warmth and laughter.
