Lewis J. Salatti 96, of Camillus, NY, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the VA Medical Center. Born on the family farm April 3, 1918 to Joseph and Carmella (Anthony) Salatti, he was a graduate of Warner High School. A veteran of World War II, Lew was a member of the Army Air Corps, achieving the rank of tech sergeant. For many years, Lew was a sales representative for Metropolitan Life. He then began a career in railroading, working as a clerk for the Lehigh Valley, Erie Lackawanna, and Conrail before retiring in 1983. Lew was an avid hunter and fisherman. He took great pride in his flower and vegetable gardens and enjoyed sharing the bounty with neighbors and family. Lew loved to make others laugh and was known for his wit even in his advancing years. He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and six brothers. Surviving are a son, Stephen J. (Lynn) of Mexico, NY; a daughter, Bonnie J. of Denver, CO; a sister, Julia (Bernard) Farrell of Brewerton, NY; grandchildren, Erin Lynn of Greensboro, NC and Beth Anne (Ryan) Barbeau of Liverpool; step-grandchildren, Benjamin Robert Boyle of Denver, CO, Dawn Caroline (Michael) Odrzywolski of Buffalo, NY; step-great-granddaughter, Evalyn Odrzywolski, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, April 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 8 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Fairmount, NY, followed by burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Warners. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Father Champlin's Guardian Angel Society, 259 E. Onondaga Street, Syracuse, NY 13202 or to a charity of one's choice.
