Leslie R. Voorhest, 93, of Syracuse and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully Monday, May 2, 2016 surrounded by his devoted wife, Virginia, six daughters and their families. Les was born in 1922 in Atlanta GA and raised in Oyster Bay, NY. He attended NC State University on a football scholarship. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II followed by a distinguished 50-year career as a civil engineer in the construction industry. He enjoyed a good competitive game of golf with his friends, loved watching football and spending time with his family. Les was a man who will be honored for his wisdom, kindness, humor, generosity and deep personal abiding faith in the Lord. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Virginia; daughters, Kathleen (Jack) Paasch, Marian (Dale) Vollmer, Joann Voorhest, Nancy (Richard) Greene, Beth Voorhest and Leslie (George) Politarhos; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
