Leonard O. Kwietniak, 80, of Auburn, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse on Wednesday, June 1, 1932, he was the son of Frank Kwietniak and Frieda Makowski Kwietniak. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he attended Blodgett High School and retired after more than 20 years with Allen Tool & Die. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Auburn. An avid fisherman, Leonard also enjoyed auto racing, woodworking, making model airplanes and baseball, especially the Yankees and going to Auburn Doubledays. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Leonard was predeceased by his sisters, Frances Angarano, Mary Shore and Jenny Bozych. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, the former Bonnie Schmidt; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Kwietniak of Camillus, Marcia Kwietniak of Solvay, Catherine and James Morton of Buffalo, Laurie and Brian O'Hara of Camillus and Lynn and James Underwood of Baldwinsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Mary Kwietniak of Cato and James and Christine Kwietniak of Camillus; brother, Frank "Cookie" (Elaine) Kwietniak of Cleveland, NY; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Monday, August 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Eileen Winter officiating. Burial will be private in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
