Leonard Jacob House, 94, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at his daughter’s home in Fairport. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was born on Friday, November 8, 1918 and was the son of Holister Hessler House and Emma (Corneles) House. He was a graduate of North High School. A Navy veteran of World War II, Leonard proudly served on the USS Ulvert M. Moore. He was owner of House Sheet Metal Co. for 70 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed reading and was a member of the Sheet Metal Contractors’ Association. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, the former Leona Bjorklund; daughter, Debra Lyda of Fairport; grandchildren, Elizabeth Lyda of New York, James (Angela) Lyda of San Francisco, California and Jack Lyda II of Spencerport; brother, Donald House of DeWitt; brother-in-law, John Bjorklund of Fairport; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Saturday, March 16 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Leonard will be laid to rest in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
